Each summer, the American Montessori Academy, of Roseville, CA, opens its doors for children up to 10 years old for our Summer program. SummerFUN consists of 7 weekly sessions of fun, age-appropriate recreation grounded in the best traditions of the Montessori philosophy. It’s also a great opportunity for new Montessori students to become familiar with our environment while getting to know some of their future classmates.
Shopping for summer enrichment activities can be a daunting task. The SummerFUN program at AMA combines inspiring academic instruction, physical recreation, and creative fun and entertainment all in one program. Our trained staff focuses on providing a safe, nurturing play environment that encourages freedom and independence. Each day is prepared, yet flexible, offering unstressed hours of activity, learning, and socialization.
Our SummerFUN curriculum, like during the school year, is suitable for all levels of interest and ability. Every week is different, with new challenges in creative thinking and expression. We take a multi-disciplinary approach to help children practice their basic reading and math skills, while also exploring new knowledge areas such as music and art appreciation, the physical sciences, botany, zoology, geography, creative writing, foreign language, creative and imaginary play, and cooking.
In addition to carefully planned outings off-campus, AMA brings in exciting, professional live entertainment to our campus, including puppeteers, magicians, clowns, face painters, touring animal shows, musicians giant water slides, and inflatable obstacle courses.
Our air-conditioned classrooms protect the children from the heat and provide a spacious arena for work and play. And our exterior grounds are shaded and secure. Water play, group games, and imaginative play are encouraged. The gardens are tended to daily as part of our educational offerings.
Parents are encouraged to participate in the festivities and help with SummerFUN festivities, including pancake breakfasts, “big brown box” building projects, professional performances, crazy dress days, and family gatherings.
Our policy is non-discriminatory relative to race, color, gender, and national origin with respect to the admission of students and faculty employment.
