Purpose:
The Parent Team was founded in 1992, to assist with school activities and provide an opportunity for parents and families to participate in their child’s school experience. The American Montessori Academy Parent Team focuses on family-centered activities, parent education, and socialization among the children and their families.
Membership:
All families enrolled in American Montessori Academy are Parent Team Members. The success of the Parent Team depends on parental involvement. Participation in meetings, events, and fundraising activity is optional. However, more participation results in more enjoyable and successful events.
Goals:
Social Interaction: Meetings, picnics, potlucks, and field trips are just a few of the ways parents and extended families can get together and exchange ideas, and have a lot of fun. Many new friendships are born of Parent Team involvement.
Fundraising: Proceeds from Parent Team fundraisers are managed by the Team and collected strictly for the benefit of AMA families. The funds are not co-mingled with tuition or childcare costs. The Parent Team maintains a separate account, which is administered by the Parent Team Treasurer.

Parent Education: The Parent Team offers parents and families the opportunity to gather information on the Montessori method, as well as general parenting and planning. This is accomplished with speakers, interaction among other members at functions, and general information from AMA teachers.

Join us out front of the school for entertainment and great food while you meet the families of AMA.
Harvest Carnival (Crazy Hat Day)
October (last Friday of the month)
This fun-filled day occurs on the last Friday of October. Beginning at noon, children parade around the AMA campus with their "crazy hats." Following the parade and pot-luck luncheon, a fun-filled carnival fills the grounds featuring face painting, clowns, giant slides, and games.
Snow Play Day (early Spring)
Location: Soda Springs
Join us this winter for the Parent Team-sponsored visit to California's largest snow park.
Fairytale Town Campout (May)
Fairytale Town, in Sacramento's Land Park, offers an overnight campout exclusively for AMA families. For a nominal fee (subsidized by the Parent Team), families can join the fun of an overnight campout with fellow AMA families and friends. This is a night not to be missed! Forms will be available soon.
